Ballroom Dancing :: essays research papers

Have you did something that you didn’t really want to do, and then later get selected for doing it? Well, I have. It was another beautiful Friday at Spottsville Elementary School, and ever Friday at Spottsville was music class. But today we didn’t have music class, today was something totally different. Our music teacher Ms.Belcher was having try-outs for Mrs. Benson's ballroom dance team. To tell you the truth, I was just going to get up there and goof-off, and that I did do. But, on that Friday something went wrong, something terrible, something I didn't expect to happen. "Now class take your seat. Today we will be trying out for ballroom dancing. Only the best dancers will be teaching the 5th graders for Mrs. Benson," said Ms. Belcher. Well, I thought that it was going to be boring (which it was), and I was mad because we all had to try-out (which we all did). Ms. Belcher picked the first group and then walked over to her boom-box and started playing the Macarena. This was simple; everyone knew how to do that dance. About ten min. into dancing, my friends thought it would be funny for someone not to know how to do the Macarena, and just do something totally different. So they dared me to, and like the comedian that I am, I agreed. When she called up for the last group (which I was in) everyone was laughing, including me. I did do something totally different from the Macarena, I did the disco. Even I can’t believe it now, but I was. If I was in the audience and could see myself dancing, it would have probably looked like something off the movie â€Å"Boogie Nights†, starring John Travolta. And I know I would have been laughing too. Finally Ms. Belcher turned off the music and said, "Now class settle down. I will have the results for you sometime next week." At the end of class when we all leaving everyone was telling me how funny it was, but you could tell that Ms. Belcher did find it amusing at all. But I don’t care, as long as I got a few laughs (well it was more than a few). That following week I was sitting in Mr. Adkin's class, my regular teacher. He was showing us how to fractions, when someone knocked on the door. Mr. Adkins walked over and gladly opened it. Mrs. Benson stepped in the room and told us why she had came. Then one bye one she called people out into the hallway.

Online marketing vs Traditional marketing Essay

Traditional marketing have many advertisement methods that have been used in the past. By saying this, we can assume business cards, print ads in magazines or newspapers, posters, radio, television commercials, brochures and billboards. Traditional marketing uses anything as long as is not digital to â€Å"brand† your product or company logo into the minds of people. People sometimes can find you or your business in a network or referrals and they will definitely come to trust you and the work you are doing. And digital marketing also still evolving and will be updating as long as technology continues to make advancements. Digital marketing includes things such as a website, banner ads, social media mentions, or YouTube videos for example. The goal of digital marketing is for people to find you. They might find you or your web-site through an organic search, paid search, social networking or by reading a post or comment that you have published online it can be an ad or an article. Once they become familiar with your brand through your online presence, a trust will develop. With the help of traditional marketing a business can reach a specific target audience that may not have access to the internet and this can be the only way to reach certain people. Certain customers may also prefer a physical printed piece to view. On the other hand, a key digital marketing objective is engaging customers and allowing them to interact with the brand through servicing and  delivery of digital media. This is achieved by designing digital media in such a way that it requires some type of end user action to view or receive the motive behind that media’s creation. 2. CONTENT a) Digital Market When is it used? Some companies have some big goals that they want to achieve, in order to make that happen they try to get customers from everywhere. In this case, digital marketing is going to be very effective for them as they want to advertise in the whole country/continent or world. Using internet or smart phones as a medium to advertise your product will be nothing difficult for a digital marketing strategy. Why using digital marketing: Digital media is so deep that consumers have access to information any time and any place they want it. Forgotten are the days when the messages people got about your products or services were sent by you and having info about only what you wanted them to know. Today, we use digital marketing because it makes our business life easier and faster. We can also consider saying that more effective because people do not use the old method as much as they used to do. How to use digital marketing: Marketers use digital marketing to make more people know about their product. Sending info out about your product trough internet in some famous web-pages such as Facebook, Hotmail, Yahoo or Twitter, makes it easier for people to see it and put some interest if they find it interesting. Just open a web-site and expose or advertise your business and all the product you offer. You must make it look interesting and colourful to attract visitor’s attention so that more people will know about your business. Big companies such as Amazon and a big name as EMIRATES use digital marketing and that helps those companies to be known by a lot of people worldwide. b) Traditional Markets When to use it? How to use it? Direct Mail: When it comes to your direct mail strategy, here’s the thing: Shift your mind-set dramatically. If you’re used to direct mail, I think you’ll find the easiest transition into more friendly people turf in email marketing. It will help promote new products or services in a similar way to direct mail. One piece of content for one person, but allows you to personalize your messaging more easily, and more efficiently, than personalized print marketing. These efficiencies will enable you to reallocate budget to other aspects of your marketing strategy. Most importantly, it’s measurable. Direct mail is often feast or famine, but email marketing is easier to track and improve upon. By analysing open and click through rates, you can more effectively make the necessary adjustments to increase conversion rates. Email Blasts to Purchase Lists: Before you consider ditching your entire email strategy, make sure that a lot of people are already utilising it. According to a study by Pew Research Centre, 90% of people use the internet to send and receive email at least occasionally. Print and Advertising: As people focus more their attention to a second screen, so should you. There are lots of video online that people are watching. Find out where, and look into methods of advertisement there†¦ or better, yet creating your own online videos and showing up your YouTube presence. The same applies to print, people prefer digital subscriptions to the touch and feel of paper. Considering the nature of your product or service, shift your budget away from physical media as much as possible in order to attract a more digital, multi-screen generation of buyers. 3. ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF TRADITIONAL AND DIGITAL MARKETS. a) Advantages of Digital Marketing: Reduced cost: a business can develop its online marketing strategy for very little cost and can potentially replace costly advertising channels such as Yellow Pages, television, radio and magazine. Simple to measure: One can see in real time what is or is not working for your business online and you can adapt very quickly to improve your results unlike in the traditional method. Brand Development: A well utilized website with quality content targeting the needs and adding value to your target audience can provide  significant value and lead generation opportunities. The same can be said for utilising social media channels and personalised email marketing. b) Advantages of Traditional Marketing: New marketing methods do work and can increase a company’s client base, completely replacing traditional marketing with the latest marketing techniques can prove to be dangerous. Traditional methods have a high success rate and that is proven. Internet methods are subject to clients or customers having access to an online medium and being Internet savvy. With traditional marketing, anyone with a newspaper, mail service, television or radio can learn of your business or service. Rather than customers going online to find your business or service (and possibly stumbling on your competitor’s website), you bring your business or service to potential customers with print advertisements and other traditional methods. c) Disadvantages of Traditional Marketing Price: Traditional media buys are usually more expensive than newer forms of advertising. In addition to the cost of buying TV spots, you may need to pay for the development of your commercials. Harder to Target Audience Print and broadcast outlets provide media kits with audience demographics, but once a magazine is mailed, a paper is delivered or an ad is broadcast, you don’t know who actually read, saw or viewed your ad. Less Information The message you can deliver with traditional advertising is much more limited compared to newer forms of communications. If you can get people to your website with the click of a banner ad or link, you have almost unlimited opportunities to deliver page after page of information to customers. With print and broadcast, you must communicate your message within a few square inches of space or in 30 seconds. d) Disadvantages of Digital Marketing Lacking an actual presence: The customer struggles to actually feel or decide to try on the merchandise which may be a restriction for several products. Nevertheless a study of customers of cosmetics services and products suggests that e-mail marketing may be used to interest a customer to search  well for a shop to get one of these solutions or even to consult with sales representatives. Hard to tell if individuals are lying: There’s too much informative data on the World Wide Web today, it’s often difficult to differentiate between quality and garbage. Lots of the garbage is directed at newcomers. Lots of Information: Once more we reach the section of their being truly a large amount of info on the World Wide Web. It might be too much good data as well. There is a lot of competition for a business, this can make a person more troubled than if there have been given lots of garbage. You will possibly not have the ability to tell whom to choose. CONCLUSION Traditional marketing and digital marketing are two different ways of advertisement that have been applied for marketers since the old ages till the current time. Considering the points we have covered above, we come to conclude that each type of marketing is effective depending of the person we are advertising it to. The House behind a Weeping Cherry: Analysis

The House Behind A Weeping Cherry believe an individual can blame their country for their personal trouble because that country could be a place where people are mistreated by the government. Living in China during the time Of the Cultural Revolution people were persecuted and thrown into prison because they were speaking out against low pay wages and poverty. As in the story â€Å"The House Behind A Weeping Cherry†, Ill was smuggled into this country illegally by a man who seed her and other women in slave labor such as prostitution.Ill was desperate to get out of China because of the ill treatment the peopled faced. She wanted to start a new life in the U. S. Where she would have a chance to make a better life for herself and to make more money to send back to her family in China. Ill was in a trap or a common cycle for women who fall prey to men who take advantage of people who seemingly have no other choices in life. She blamed her country for the situation she finds herse lf in because the country failed the people by causing them to use any means necessary to flee.People were dying from poverty and starvation as well as sickness and disease. They had little or no medical care and the working conditions were poor and unsafe. Ill knew she had to leave China somehow even if it meant being placed in slave labor as a prostitute. During this time in China, the people were fighting and demonstrating in the streets. They were dying for the right to fair treatments as a citizen of China. They were demonstrating for an increase in pay wages so that they would be able to care for their families. As with so many countries, there are different classes of people. The poor people were doing all of the labor and didn't make enough money to visit a doctor's office for a regular physical exam. The people couldn't pay for decent housing and ended up living in huts or in the streets. The government used them unfairly and they didn't seem to care. Ill came into this coun try with the hopes of a better life, but was still being used by the circumstances of her country. Living as a prostitute and having to pay the majority of your earnings to someone else is not the makings of a better life.Using your body to earn a living is even more degrading than living in a country where you are estimated because you are poor. Her life was in the hands Of another person who seemed to have total control. But after meeting someone who gave her hope to break free from the life she was living seemed possible. My struggles were not as serious as Lily's, but I had to make some hard choices in my life. The choice to go to college to attain a degree in Business Administration was a long journey. After the loss of my job and income, living off of unemployment for two years I hit rock bottom.Raising a teenager as a single parent had its challenges of its own. Eventually unemployment ran its course and then losing my coop apartment of 14 years. I understand that as a woman had a choice to either rise through this trial or become like Ill and blame my country because of the failed economy in 2008. But instead of blaming my country and the greedy corporations I chose to rise to the occasion and take action. I can no longer be a victim of circumstance, but can make a difference in my life as well as setting an example for my son by going to college in the midst of our struggle and make a greater life for me and my family.

Assess the Marxist View That the Main Role of the Family Is to Serve the Interests of Capitalism

Assess the Marxist view that the main role of the family is to serve the interests of capitalism. There are many different perspectives of the family. Each different view sees different things as the main role of the family. Marxists view the family in a very belittled manner. They believe that the main role of the family is to serve the interests of capitalism and bourgeoisie. They also believe that the family cushions the main provider. Marx’s views on the capitalist mode of production highlights the exploitative nature of the eco system. He displays how the middle class take advantage of the working class and their labour; the working class are a tool used to create profit and to keep profit at a reasonable level. Marx argues that the monogamous middle class nuclear family developed to help them solve the problem of the inheritance of private property. The men needed to know who their children were in order to pass on their property to their heirs. The family was therefore t hought to be by Marxists as designed to control women and protect property. The Middle class nuclear family is emerged with capitalism. It is patriarchal as designed to guarantee and encourage male power through the inheritance of property. It therefore serves the interests of capitalism. Marxists would argue that families are a unit of reproduction, they believe that the family is essential in the reproduction of the labour force. In pre capitalist society people only grew staple foods, drank water and lived simple life’s. People choose to have numerous children. More children meant more farm hands and help around the farm.It also acted as an insurance, against the famine, disease and other natural disasters. After the industrial revolution this all changed, Families would have less children because there was a higher chance of them surviving. Men would find themselves working and getting paid much less than the money they made for the business Engel says women’s role in the family was harsh as they did unpaid work such as cleaning and childcare. The capitalist benefits from the unpaid labour given to them by women and children within the unit.Zaretsky argues that the family is a major consumer of capitalist products. This fact in itself ensures a market for capitalist products. Because it means that the working class are first exploited and underpaid and then overcharged to buy the goods they do not need which they produced. Functionalists would argue industrialisation led to the slow replacement of extended families by nuclear families because industrialisation requires more geographical and social mobility.Geographical mobility is easier for nuclear families while if within extended families young adults achieve higher social status through social mobility than their parents this, according to Parsons would make for social tensions within the extended family which would be avoided if young married adults lived separately in their own nuclear f amily. Industrialisation leads also to processes of structural differentiation which implies that new more specialised social institutions such as factories, schools and hospitals develop to take over some of the functions previously performed by families. This means therefore that the nuclear family loses some of its functions but it remains crucial in relation to the two functions which it does retain, the socialisation of the young and the stabilisation of adult personalities. In conclusion, the main purpose of the family is to support capitalism to a certain extent as Marxists have many valid points however Capitalism may not be seen as biased and therefore the Marxist view of the family is rejected and Marxists ignore family diversity completely.

What Do You See as Some of the Crucial Roles of Informal Language in Contemporary Australia?

Informal language has a variety of functions in Australian society. What do you see as some of the crucial roles of informal language in contemporary Australia? Informal language has a variety of functions in Australian society. The main function of informal language has to do with Australia’s culture. Slang and informal language gives a sense of belonging, pride, mateship, informality and laid-backness, which is an accurate description of a typical Australian. In Australian society slang is a common feature of spoken and written conversation. The expletive bloody is very common in Australian language. Bloody is quite typical of Australian language that it can be used as a hyphen in many various words and phrases, for example â€Å"fan-bloody-tastic†. The suffix on the end of bloody is another feature worth noting as it does emphasise the Australian accent. Bloody has now become an important indicator of Australianness and of cultural values such as friendliness, informality, laid-backness, and mateship (Kate Burridge, Gift of the Gob, ABC Books 2012). The word mate, which is another way of saying friend, is typical Australian slang and it is mainly used in an informal context. The word mate suggests openness, at least to a relationship of equals (Richard Castles, The Big Issue 4-17 November 2008). The openness created from using the word mate is a positive face feature possibly leading to build rapport. There are right and wrong times to use slang and with the word mate for example, calling a woman mate runs the risk of offence, as it's an ambiguous word and in a formal situation like a job interview, using the word mate especially referring to if it is your boss, is not something that is acceptable depending on the relationship with the person.

Asserting Your Independence by Testing The Boundaries of Sexuality in The Storm

I am involved in my own personal marriage duties to people other than myself. But as the story goes on, their enthusiasm for each other exceeds the desire to keep dedicated to partners. The vast majority of the storm story means that testing the boundaries of human sexuality is one of the more passionate forms of asserting independence. This approach is very different from the opposition of traditional culture, which is completely opposite to experiments and passions other than self-marriage. Author Kate Chopin expresses women's freedom with her two short stories Storm and One Hour Story. She is a landmark writer of women's independence and human sexuality. Through these two short stories, Chopin describes the lives of two women who have found their freedom in times when society can not accept equality between women and men. Physical Mettalurgy of engineering materials Essay

Physical Mettalurgy of engineering materials - Essay Example 6. The three modes of heat transfer that occur during the heat treatment of steel are: Conduction Heat transfer is the heating process where heat energy is transferred from a body with a higher temperature to a body with lower temperature by direct contact of both bodies. Convection heat transfer is the heating process where heat is transferred by the motion of a heated medium, it could either be gas or liquid, to the body which is to be heated. Radiation heat transfer is the heating process by which heat is emitted from a higher temperature surface into space, then absorbed by a lower temperature surface thru the radiation of heat waves. 8. Stopped flow technique is limited to the one that does not have optical signal for the reaction of interest and the signals cannot be interpreted rigorously if the extinction coefficients of its intermediates are not known. Chemical quench flow allows the mixing of two reactants after which it is followed by quencing of chemical agents usually acid or base. Rapid optical photolisis chamber is based on the worldwide leading quench-flow and mounts to the same system. atomic size factor.
